PGS/PGD

PGS/PGD is most useful for:

  • Women with advanced maternal age (>35): As maternal age increases, the incidence of chromosomal abnormalities increases, resulting in decreased fertility, an increased risk of spontaneous pregnancy loss (miscarriage), and infants born with chromosomal abnormalities such as Down Syndrome.
  • Couples with recurrent pregnancy loss: PGS allows us to screen the embryos and rule out aneuploidy as a cause of the miscarriage.
  • Patients or couples who are carriers of defective genes (i.e. cystic fibrosis mutations) that may cause a specific genetic disease (i.e. cystic fibrosis) in their offspring.
  • Couples with repeated IVF cycle failures.
